Two villages the same water built
New York Mills took its name from the textile mills that ran on Sauquoit Creek from 1808 until the 1950s, and Yorkville sits right beside it along Oriskany Boulevard. For us the two villages are a single run up the valley, usually 12 to 18 minutes from the shop.
That same creek passes through Chadwicks on its way north, so we are neighbors in the literal sense. When ice jams the valley or a January wind cuts through, our locks are freezing at the same hour yours are.
